Pros and cons of Igowin Joseki app for iPhone and iPad

Igowin Joseki app good for

Good teacher. It gives you a lot of options with checkmarks so its great that I have a lot of options. Youre playing by yourself. So you know where the opponent might put it because theres checkmarks.
The joseki tutor works great but there is some josekis I find are missing. Mainly the two space low pincer from the hoshi stone.

Some bad moments

Wow what a useless go app. You click away at it placing stones with no instruction and no explanations. There is truly nothing to be learned from this app. Not even worth the bytes it occupies on your phone never mind hard currency. Do not download!
It is fantastic to have such a complete Joseki database on ones phone. That alone is worth the price of the application. However, as a student of Go, Id like to have much better tools for learning Joseki than what this offers. First of all, a Joseki tutorial mode should be restricted to the most common Joseki, rather than every possible one in the book. Secondly, the computer should play either black or white, punishing you for mistakes. Third, there should be some indication when the joseki is completed correctly, as well as a record of which joseki one has mastered. Perhaps this is not how the program was intended, so I am giving it four stars for being a good joseki dictionary, but what I really would like is a program which would be useful for learning the most common Joseki.
Talk about a scam. This has almost nothing. Ive downloaded nearly every go-game in the AppStore and this is by far the "scammiest" $2.99 youll spend.
Thanks to the developer for providing a handy joseki reference. If you ask me, having the rough equivalent of kogos on the iPhone is plenty enough for me. Although I agree that a lot of new features would be useful, most of them hurt study. For example, having the computer punish a mistake is pointless. You should work out the variations as though you were always playing on the side currently to move. It helps develop ones mu shin or emotional dispassion for the exaggerated security of a desired position, get me? Just memorize both sides, its hard to think of a move by itself, you really want to know all the pairings for black then white. Anytime you have a willing go buddy or even one that doesnt play at all, you got a whole $@$ load of joseki to do. 3 bucks? Ill spend it here.
This is a nice little program, but it lacks a zoom function when you go to place a stone. Because of the small size of the grid and stones, this means that I often (because of fat fingers) misplace stones. The addition of the standard zoom function seems like a necessity.
This program is absolutely NOT a "scam." the reviewer that made the claim clearly had no idea what to do with it. Its not a game, its a reference app, and a great one at that. Very simple, just open it up and try out some moves... The app will tell you the next moves in the joseki sequence. Also available is the option to switch colors, so that you can see the best way to attack an already-enclosed corner if need be.
